The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is dedicated to enriching the undergraduate experience for those in the Department of Bioengineering and for those interested in Biomedical Engineering by fostering personal growth and professional development. We encourage undergraduates to get involved with their education and start making a difference today!
Come check out our next event!
Friday, April 27th from 8 AM to 5 PM in the Telemedicine Building in the UCSD School of Medicine
Bioengineering Day (BE Day) is a unique forum for networking between our industrial partners and the bioengineering community at UC San Diego. This undergraduate and graduate research symposia celebrates the accomplishments of our students, and provides opportunities for collaboration between them and fellow members from local industry, department alumni, or academia.
Mondays at 8:00 PM @PFBH 391
Bioengineering Day gives seniors the chance to showcase their project, gives graduate students the opportunity to present their work, gives speakers the ability to share insights into their respective fields, and gives UC San Diego student teams the chance to test their smarts at the annual Bioengineering Day Quiz Bowl. With this cherished tradition, BMES works as a team with graduate students to create a day dedicated to the expansive field of Bioengineering.
Fridays at 7:00pm @PFBH 391
Lab Expo is an annual research exposition aimed towards exposing undergraduates to the diverse and thriving research community at UCSD and enriching the community as a whole. Lab Expo's mission is three-fold: develop scientific literacy, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and encourage scientific advocacy.
Tuesdays at 6 PM @PFBH 291
The goal of our Outreach Committee is to not only introduce bioengineering to the upcoming generation of K-12 students, but also to give back to the local San Diego community. Join us in our journey to reach out to people who need our help, and to initiate the passions for science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the younger crowd!
Thursdays at 7:00pm @PFBH 391
The Project Team Committee is dedicated to the Biomedical Research and Competition sector of our organization. Every year, we hope to give undergraduate studnets the ability to attain hands-on experience with laboratory techniques in academic departments ranging from Mechanical to Bioengineering to the UC San Diego Medical School. Additionally we hope to get people involved in research by providing exciting projects developed by partnering faculty!
Translational Medicine Day
Mondays at 8 PM in PFBH 391
Translational Medicine is a new discipline in biomedical research that aims to expedite the discovery of new diagnostic tools and treatments by using a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative, "bench-to-bedside" approach. Our Translational Medicine Day committee hopes to showcase this amazing field by planning the annual Translational Medicine Day event!
Thursdays at 8:00 PM in PFBH 391
Freshman Committee is a social instrument to introduce freshman to BMES and UCSD's Bioengineering program via social outings and through planning of the Bioengineering Experience, an event that outlines the fields and opportunities that the tracks in UCSD Bioengineering can offer. But primarily, we are here to give freshman the confidence and resources to succeed at UCSD and beyond.
